Donation Requests:
We donate multiple times a year to organizations that are near and dear to our hearts. (Jaguar Rescue Center, Special Bunny, and Lambert House.)
We get lots of requests for donations and cannot donate to each one, especially as an independent micro business.
We will not donate to in person requests. We do not donate to political or religious organizations.
Fill out the donation application below to be considered:
Before applying, ask yourself:
Is this a business that I regularly support?
Do I follow them on Instagram?
Am I on their newsletter?
Do I know the owner or staff by name?
If you answered Yes to all those questions, fill out the donation application below.
Etiquette on asking small businesses for donations:
Running a small business in Seattle is hard and small businesses rely on and love their communities. Multiple times a day small businesses get donations requests. We totally get being passionate about your cause, school, etc and wanting others to support and donate to it. Here’s a few tips when reaching out to any small business for a donation:
Make sure you have actually been to the shop that you are asking a donation from. One of the biggest slaps in the face to small business are when a person walks in, says they never been there, and then asks for a donation.
When reaching out to small businesses for their support, ask yourself if you support them. If you don’t how will they have the budget to donate to your request?
When reaching out to them, make sure you get their name and their business name correct. I can’t tell you how many emails we got that say Dear Sloth and Robot. Getting their name and the business name right shows that you care about them.
If a business does donate to your cause make sure to promote them in your newsletters, silent auction listings, social media etc. Be their cheerleaders - the business will see that and want to donate year after year. If there are no thank you’s or shout outs, that’s a quick way to never be considered again for a donation.
If you are the winner of the item, make sure to tell the shop how much you love it. You can tell them in person, through social media, email, or a nice thank you card. Once small businesses donate, it is common to never hear how the event went or who won the item.
