Robot vs Sloth is currently hiring retail sales staff.

About us:
Robot vs Sloth focuses on art created by Seattle artist La Ru and a curated selection of art by 45+ local (and a few out of state) artists. We are a small, family-run business, and strive to create a positive, supportive, and friendly atmosphere both for customers and for our team. We are a LGBTQ+ supportive work environment. Currently we are a team of 9 fabulous and talented people, all of which have been with Robot vs Sloth for 1 - 3 years.

Our shop is a fast paced retail environment with an average of 500 - 1000+ customers a day in the summer and 200 - 500+ customers a day in the winter. Our goal is to engage with each customer so they leave knowing a little more about the shop, the artists we carry, or the products.

The Ideal Applicant:

  • is an outgoing, friendly person, who is able to talk to a few hundred people a day

  • is excited about art and the Seattle art scene (a lot of our staff are also artists at our shop!)

  • has great communication and customer service skills

  • is able to work at least 1 weekend day and a few weekdays (opening 9am - 5:30pm or closing 10am - 6:30pm)

  • is punctual

  • has a positive, welcoming energy

  • able to work well with a team

  • Must be at least 18 years old

    Job tasks include:

  • Selling merchandise and introducing customers to the different artists and products we carry

    • We have a sales training program and product training program

  • Talking to and getting to know our customers

  • Creating a friendly, positive environment for both customers and fellow teammates

  • Folding, tagging, and sku-ing inventory

  • Creating buttons, magnets, craft kits, and more

What we offer:
Pay is $20/hr with paid sick leave, with opportunities for raises once sales training has been completed. We offer a regular, consistent schedule. For staff working 30+ hours, we also offer great health insurance (including dental and vision) which is available after 60 days of employment. We offer 401k, with employer matching too after 6 months of employment. Employees also receive a 20% discount, and 2 free shirts. Our breakroom has snacks, coffee, tea, and other goodies. We do monthly team/sales competitions that often include winning free products, food around the Pike Place Market, PTO, or bonuses. We also get together as a group through the month for art nights and game nights.

Covid19 Precautions:
Since our shop is small and can get crowded very quickly, still limit occupancy. Our entire team is vaccinated and we require staff to be fully vaccinated and boosted before starting at Robot vs Sloth. We work with the doors open and have 3 medical grade air filters. We provide KN95 masks, but do not require them.
